Jacqui Rose is a bestselling author, born in Manchester, United Kingdom and raised in South Yorkshire. She discovered her passion for writing at a young age, charging her classmates sherbet dips in exchange for writing their essays. Growing up in a small mining village, she often felt isolated and turned to writing for companionship. After being expelled from school as a teenager, she briefly experienced homelessness in London before pursuing her dream of writing.
Jacqui has written a variety of works, including stand-up comedy, radio drams, and screenplays. She is published by HarperCollins and Pan Macmillan and has written over sixteen bestselling novels, with her books being described as gritty, urban crime stories. She has also collaborated with fellow author Martina Cole on Cole's new novel, Loyalty. In addition to her work as an adult fiction author, Jacqui also writes under the name J P Rose and has penned a teen/YA novel, The Haunting of Tyrese Walker.
Despite her success, Jacqui's journey to becoming a bestselling author was not without its challenges. Growing up in a small, isolated village, she often felt like an outsider and turned to writing for comfort. After being expelled from school and experiencing homelessness, she continued to pursue her dream of becoming a writer. Her determination and passion for writing eventually paid off, as she has now written over sixteen bestselling novels and has even collaborated with other successful authors.
Jacqui's personal experiences have also influenced her writing. Her debut novel, Taken, was inspired by an abusive relationship she was in, and she credits writing as her salvation and freedom. She has also used her writing to give voice to marginalized communities, teaching drama and writing workshops for prisoners, ex-cons, and the homeless on a volunteer basis. Jacqui's inspiring story serves as a reminder that with determination and hard work, anyone can overcome adversity and achieve their dreams.
