James Hayman

James Hayman is a successful American author, best known for his thriller novels and the McCabe & Savage series. Hayman was born in Brooklyn, New York, and spent his formative years in Manhattan. He attended Brown University, where he discovered a passion for writing and dreaming up ideas. After graduation, Hayman ventured into the advertising industry, working for several major agencies in New York City for over two decades. His clients included high-profile companies such as the U.S. Army, Lincoln-Mercury, and Procter & Gamble.

In 2001, Hayman decided to leave the advertising world behind and pursue his long-held dream of becoming a fiction writer. He relocated to Maine, where he began working on his first thriller novel. Inspired by notable thriller and suspense writers like Dennis Lehane, Ian Rankin, and Michael Connelly, Hayman created the McCabe & Savage Thrillers, featuring the prominent characters McCabe and Maggie Savage, two Maine detectives. His debut novel, The Cutting, quickly gained international acclaim and was published in the U.S., U.K., Germany, and several other countries. It has since been translated into multiple languages and sold hundreds of thousands of copies worldwide.

Hayman's success continued with the publication of five more McCabe/Savage thrillers: The Chill of Night, Darkness First, The Girl in the Glass, and The Girl on the Bridge. These novels have collectively sold over half a million copies and have made appearances on bestseller lists including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and the Portland Press Herald. His latest McCabe/Savage thriller, A Fatal Obsession, is set outside of Maine, in New York City and rural Connecticut. The book was published by Harper Collins in both paperback and e-book formats in August 2021. In addition to the McCabe & Savage series, Hayman has started a new novel featuring a new hero, New York City private investigator Charlie Spiller, who specializes in investigating financial crimes.
