Jane Goodger is a bestselling author of romance novels who was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, United States, and began her career as a journalist for minor community papers before moving on to cover crime at a Connecticut daily. It was during her time as a crime reporter that she realized life does not always offer happy endings, which led her to start writing romance novels that always have a cheerful conclusion.
Goodger grew up in western Massachusetts and has spent most of her adult life living in New England. She has also lived in Virginia, Washington D.C., and Naples, Italy, thanks to her adventurous husband. Goodger has written four contemporary romances under the name Jane Blackwood, but her first love is historical romances set in Victorian times. She has written 17 of those, with more on the way. In addition to her writing, Goodger is a full-time worker, has an editing business, and is a mother to three children.
Goodger worked as a journalist for 12 years before deciding that writing about happy endings was more enjoyable than writing about real life. She wrote her first book when she was six years old, which was about a worm who didn't want to be a worm. Currently, Goodger spends her time happily writing, reading, hunting for sea glass near her home in New England, and spending time with her three children. Her husband can attest to the fact that Goodger prefers any activity over housework.
