Jane Lindskold

Jane Lindskold is an acclaimed American author, best known for her works in the science fiction and fantasy genres. She has written more than twenty novels, including the popular Firekeeper Saga, which consists of eight titles. Other notable works include an archeological fantasy adventure set in 19th century Egypt and a modern day fantasy set in Las Vegas. Lindskold is also well-regarded for her Breaking the Wall series, which has gained a significant following among contemporary fantasy fiction enthusiasts. In addition to her novel series, she has published numerous works of fiction, such as her article on Synge and Yeats, and a biography of Roger Zelazny. She is also a prolific author of over sixty short stories.

Lindskold was born in 1962 in Washington D.C. and grew up in the Chesapeake Bay area. Both of her parents were attorneys, with her father heading the Land and Natural Resources Division, Western Division of the United States Justice Department. Lindskold studied at Fordham, where she received a Ph.D. in English, focusing on Medieval, Renaissance, and Modern British Literature. She successfully defended her Ph.D. on her 26th birthday.

Lindskold has a close connection to the science fiction and fantasy community. She was mentored by Roger Zelazny, who was originally her penpal and later became her closest friend. Following Zelazny's death, she finished two of his uncompleted novels, Donnerjack and Lord Demon, at his request. Lindskold has also collaborated with other notable authors in the genre, including David Weber, with whom she wrote several novellas and two YA novels set in his popular ”Honorverse.” She currently resides in New Mexico with her husband, archaeologist Jim Moore.
