Jason Ayres is a science fiction and humor author, best known for his debut novel, "The Time Bubble." Born in Worcestershire, England, Ayres showed a keen interest in writing from a young age. As a primary school student, he wrote an epic space adventure, featuring a starship captain that was popular in the late 1970s. By the 1980s, he was writing plays on any spare exercise books he could find at his father's stationery cupboard. These plays often starred girls he fancied and his classmates, who were involved in libelous and outrageous scenarios.
After taking a detour in his twenties to pursue a career in market research, Ayres returned to his first love of writing in the 2000s. He began writing for various publications, including the Oxford Mail, before turning his attention to writing novels. His first novel, "The Time Bubble," was released in 2014, and he has since written over a dozen volumes in the series, exploring time travel in innovative ways. Ayres' books can be read standalone, but they are all interlinked, with characters from one story often appearing in another. In 2023, Ayres launched a new venture, a trilogy of comedy novels set in the 1970s, exploring the culture and values of the era with mild horror and science fiction elements.
Ayres currently lives in Evesham, Worcestershire, with his wife and two teenage sons. He left behind a stable career in market research to pursue his love of writing, and although he has yet to win the Booker Prize, he achieved fame in 2013 when he was named Britain's Official Sausage Taster. After sampling over 300 sausages, he got to choose the winners at the prestigious British Sausage Week awards alongside celebrity chef, Simon Rimmer.
