Jeff Hirsch is a science fiction, young adult fantasy, and children's fiction author who hails from Rhode Island. He spent a significant portion of his formative years in suburban Richmond before moving to other parts of the country. Hirsch has a unique educational background, having studied acting in undergraduate school and obtaining a Master of Fine Arts degree in dramatic writing from a university in San Diego.
Currently, Hirsch resides in Astoria, Queens, a neighborhood in New York that is known for its large Greek population and its close proximity to Manhattan. He lives there with his wife, who is a blogger and writer of sewing books, and their two cats. Hirsch has a sense of humor and a creative mind, as evidenced by his desire to one day have a large dog named Jerry Lee Lewis.
Hirsch is the author of several books, including "The Eleventh Plague," which was his first published work. He previously wrote a book about a teenage rockstar and her drag queen fairy godmother, but he prefers not to talk about it much. Hirsch has a dry wit and a self-deprecating sense of humor, as demonstrated by his reference to a master's degree in dramatic writing as one of the top twenty most useless degrees in the United States.
