Jeffrey Lent

Jeffrey Lent is a bestselling author of literary fiction, known for his vividly descriptive historical dramas. Born in Vermont, Lent grew up on dairy farms in Vermont and western New York State, where horsepower was still the norm. He pursued higher education at Franconia College in New Hampshire and SUNY Purchase, studying literature and psychology. However, his path to authorship was not immediate; it took him nearly fifteen years after graduating from college to publish his first novel, "In the Fall."

"In the Fall" was a national bestseller, reprinted four times in its first month of publication, and was a New York Times Book Review Notable Book for 2000. This success earned Lent placement in both Barnes & Noble’s and Borders’ new writer programs, and it was a BookSense pick and Book of the Month main selection. His subsequent novels, including "Lost Nation," "A Peculiar Grace," "After You've Gone," "A Slant of Light," and "Before We Sleep," have also been well-received, with "Lost Nation" being a summer reading pick of The Washington Post and USA Today.

Lent currently resides in central Vermont with his wife and two daughters. His work has been widely translated and continues to captivate readers with its historical depth and literary prowess.
