Jennifer Allison is an accomplished American author, best known for her mystery novels for children. She is the creator of the popular Gilda Joyce series, which has received critical acclaim and numerous awards. Allison was born in Saline, Michigan, where she grew up, and went on to attend the University of Michigan on a musical scholarship. However, her interests shifted toward writing, leading her to pursue a Master of Fine Arts degree from American University.
Allison's career has taken many turns, including work as a news reporter and high school English teacher. She has also held various odd jobs, such as a piano player in a shopping mall, assembly-line worker for General Motors, waitress, and preschool teacher. These diverse experiences have provided her with a wealth of ideas for characters and stories. Currently, Allison resides in Chicago with her husband and three children, where she continues to write and publish books.
