Jennifer Shaw is a photographer and educator whose work captures the intersection of art and personal narrative. Her acclaimed monograph, "Hurricane Story," published by Chin Music Press in 2011, documents her family's experience during Hurricane Katrina through evocative toy camera images. Shaw's photographs have appeared in publications such as "B&W Magazine", "Shots", "Oxford American", and "The Sun", and her work is featured in the books "Plastic Cameras: Toying With Creativity" and "Before During After".
Born in Milwaukee, Shaw earned a BFA in photography from the Rhode Island School of Design before settling in New Orleans, where she teaches traditional darkroom techniques. A co-founder of the New Orleans Photo Alliance, she also directs the annual PhotoNOLA festival. Shaw's images are held in prominent collections, including the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, reflecting her enduring influence in contemporary photography.
