Jenny Slate

Jenny Sarah Slate is an American actress, comedian, and author. She was born in Milton, Massachusetts in 1982 to parents with diverse backgrounds and careers. Her father, Ron Slate, was a poet and businessman who worked for the EMC Corporation and later became the CEO of a biotech startup. Her mother, Nancy Gilson, was a ceramicist. Slate is the second of three children, with an older sister named Abigail and a younger sister named Stacey.

Slate's educational background is impressive, having been valedictorian of her class at Milton Academy and a literature major at Columbia University. While at Columbia, she co-founded the improv group "Fruit Paunch" and met her comedy partner Gabe Liedman. After graduating in 2004, Slate pursued a career in Hollywood, primarily doing stand-up comedy.

Slate has become well-known for her work in various forms of media. She created the Marcel the Shell With Shoes On short films, which were later turned into children's books. She spent a season as a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 2009 to 2010 and has had recurring roles on House of Lies, Parks and Recreation, Bob's Burgers, and Kroll Show. Slate starred in the 2014 Sundance film Obvious Child and currently co-stars in the FX comedy series Married. In addition to her work in film and television, Slate is also a New York Times bestselling author for her children's book Marcel The Shell with Shoes On. She is known for her unique comedic voice and versatile acting skills, making her a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.
