Jeremy Tankard

Jeremy Tankard is an author and illustrator known for his engaging children's books, including "Grumpy Bird" and "Me Hungry!" His work earned him a nomination for outstanding children’s book illustration, showcasing his ability to blend humor and heart into stories for young readers. Tankard’s creative process draws from constant observation and doodling, a habit nurtured since childhood when he crafted wordless tales featuring a pig family.

Growing up in multiple locations, including Cape Town and Knoxville, Tankard was immersed in storytelling from an early age, influenced by his father’s imaginative tales and his mother’s library work. After studying drawing and printmaking at the Alberta College of Art and Design, he built a career as an illustrator, contributing to publications like "Time" and "The New York Times". His transition to children’s literature combined his artistic skills with a passion for narrative, resulting in whimsical, visually rich books. Tankard resides in Toronto with his family, where he enjoys music, Indian cuisine, and skateboarding.
