Jericho Brown

Jericho Brown is an accomplished poet and educator whose work has garnered significant acclaim. His debut collection, "PLEASE," received the 2009 American Book Award, establishing him as a distinctive voice in contemporary poetry. Brown's poems have been featured in prestigious publications such as "The Iowa Review", "jubilat", and "Oxford American", showcasing his ability to blend lyrical precision with profound emotional depth.

Before dedicating himself fully to poetry, Brown served as a speechwriter for the Mayor of New Orleans, honing his craft in language and public discourse. He holds a PhD in Creative Writing and Literature from the University of Houston, an MFA from the University of New Orleans, and a BA from Dillard University. His literary achievements include the Whiting Writers Award and a Bunting Fellowship from Harvard University's Radcliffe Institute, as well as multiple travel fellowships to the Krakow Poetry Seminar in Poland. Currently, Brown directs the Cropper Center for Creative Writing at the University of San Diego, where he continues to influence emerging writers through teaching and mentorship.
