Jerry Ahern

Jerry Ahern is a renowned American author, best known for his post-apocalyptic series "The Survivalist." Ahern was born as Jerome Morrell Ahern and wrote over eighty international bestselling novels, both alongside his wife Sharon Ahern and under the pseudonyms Red Mitchell and Axel Kilgore. His works are heavily descriptive of the weapons used in survivalist scenarios, which reflects his expertise in firearms.

Aside from his career as a novelist, Ahern was a respected firearms writer who contributed to various magazines such as Gun World, Handguns, and Guns & Ammo. He was also known for his expertise in leather gear and holsters for firearms and wrote a monthly column for “Filed Issue”. Ahern's survivalist novels, coupled with his knowledge of firearms, established him as a leading figure in the genre. He and his wife, Sharon, were high school sweethearts who went on to have two children together.

Ahern's legacy lives on through his wife Sharon and his longtime friend and author Bob Anderson, who have since written several more titles under the Survivalist series. These new releases have been just as successful as those written by Ahern himself. Additionally, Speaking Volumes has been re-releasing over sixty Ahern novels in print, in various electronic formats, and as audio books. The Survivalist series has also returned, with new releases appearing each month, picking up just minutes after the 29th book ended. Ahern worked on the continuation of this series up to his death, and Sharon and fellow writer Bob Anderson have since picked up the mantle to keep this high adventure, soap opera-style series aimed toward the future.

Ahern passed away on July 24, 2012, after a long struggle with cancer. He was remembered as a good man who loved his family and his country and always looked for the best in everyone. His family appreciates the many good wishes and kind thoughts from his many fans all over the world.
