Jesse Thistle is a Métis-Cree historian, poet, and author originally from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He is the bestselling author of "From the Ashes" and "Scars and Stars," which have garnered widespread acclaim. Thistle's work explores themes of identity, resilience, and Indigenous history, drawing from his personal and academic background.
An assistant professor in Humanities at York University in Toronto, Thistle specializes in Métis Studies. His scholarly achievements include receiving the Governor General’s Academic Medal in 2016, as well as distinctions as a Pierre Elliot Trudeau Scholar and a Vanier Scholar. A sought-after keynote speaker, he continues to contribute to Indigenous scholarship while working on his next book.
