Jo Ho is a screenwriter and author known for crafting suspenseful stories with unexpected twists. She writes young adult fiction under the name Jo Ho and adult romance under Joanne Ho, often featuring canine companions. Her debut novel, "WANTED," the first installment in the Chase Ryder series, became a bestseller across 15 YA categories and won the YA Sci-Fi prize at the 2018 Readers' Favorite Book Awards. She aspires to adapt her book series for the screen, building on her established career in television and film.
Ho began her writing journey as a self-taught screenwriter, creating the groundbreaking CBBC action-fantasy series "Spirit Warriors," which launched actress Jessica Henwick's career. The show received critical acclaim, earning a nomination for "Best Children’s Programme" at the 2011 Broadcast Awards, while Ho herself won the Women in Film & Television’s "New Talent" Award in 2010. She made history as the first East Asian creator of a British television drama series. Beyond her own projects, she has collaborated with renowned producers and serves as a script consultant for the British Film Institute.
Despite facing challenges due to Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS), a condition that limits her mobility, Ho continues to write prolifically. Residing in London, she dreams of traveling across the U.S. in an MCS-friendly RV with her partner and three cats. Her work remains driven by a passion for complex female protagonists and genre-blending narratives, whether in YA fiction or heartwarming romantic suspense.
