Joan Medlicott is a well-known American author, best recognized for her works in women's fiction. Born on January 1, 1932, in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Medlicott's interest in writing did not emerge until much later in her life. It was in 1989 that she discovered the prevalence of celibate marriages among women, which inspired her to write her first non-fiction book, Celibate Wives: Breaking the Silence, in collaboration with Diana Waltz.
After the success of her first book, Medlicott turned her attention to fiction writing. She drew inspiration from her own life and created the Ladies of Covington series. Medlicott approaches her writing with a unique style, often starting with no plot in mind and simply allowing the story to unfold as she writes. This approach has resulted in the creation of many compelling and engaging novels that resonate with her readers.
Medlicott currently resides in Barnardsville, North Carolina, with her husband. In addition to writing, she enjoys conducting Tea on the Porch workshops, where she shares her knowledge and passion for writing with others. Despite her busy schedule, Medlicott manages to write a novel a year on average, demonstrating her dedication and commitment to her craft.
Medlicott's writing is deeply rooted in her personal experiences and the world around her. Her ability to create relatable and engaging characters has earned her a devoted following among readers of women's fiction. Medlicott's contributions to the genre have solidified her place as a respected and admired author in the literary world.
