Jobie Hughes is an American novelist, born on July 9, 1980, in Renton, Washington, but raised in Spencer, Ohio from the age of three. He was a high school state champion in wrestling and attended Ohio University on an athletic scholarship. Hughes graduated with a business degree in Management Information Systems, a major he had little interest in, as he was unsure of what he wanted to do at the time. After graduation, he spent five years working minimum wage jobs, many of which ended in him being fired. It wasn't until he was 24 that he discovered his passion for writing.
At the age of 27, Hughes decided to pursue his newfound passion and moved to New York City to attend Columbia University's School of the Arts, where he graduated with an MFA in Creative Writing in May 2009. Since then, Hughes has become a successful author, co-authoring two novels that both became #1 New York Times Best Sellers and have sold over five million copies worldwide. His work has been translated into 27 languages and published in 49 countries.
Hughes is known for his work in young adult science fiction and fantasy, having written under the collective pseudonym of Pittacus Lore with James Frey. His success as an author has allowed him to live in New Hampshire, where he continues to write and create stories that resonate with readers around the world. Despite his humble beginnings, Hughes has become a respected and successful author, using his experiences to fuel his creativity and inspire his writing.
