Joe Gores

Joe Gores, born on December 25, 1931, in Rochester, Minnesota, was an accomplished author with a strong background in both military service and academia. Gores served in the US Army, where he put his writing skills to use by crafting biographies of generals at the Pentagon. After his military service, he pursued his passion for literature by earning a degree in English Literature from the University of Notre Dame and a Master’s in English Literature from Stanford.

Gores' writing career was not limited to his work as an author. He also spent twelve years working as a San Francisco private investigator, which provided him with a wealth of real-world experience and inspiration for his fiction. His professional background in detective work is reflected in his acclaimed DKA series of street-level crime and detection novels. In addition to his DKA series, Gores wrote standalone suspense novels such as "Dead Man" and "Menaced Assassin."

Gores' work as an author earned him numerous accolades and awards. He was a three-time recipient of the Edgar Allan Poe Award, one of the most prestigious awards in the mystery fiction genre. His writing was also recognized internationally, as he was awarded Japan's Maltese Falcon Award. Gores' diverse body of work, which includes novels, screenplays, and television scripts, has left a lasting impact on the world of crime and detective fiction.
