Joe Haldeman

Joe Haldeman is a renowned American author, best known for his contributions to the science fiction genre. He was born on June 9, 1943, and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a combat engineer. This experience significantly influenced his writing, particularly in his most famous work, "The Forever War." Haldeman's brother, Jack C. Haldeman II, was also an author, known for his contributions to the Star Trek universe.

Haldeman's writing career began while he was still in the army. He has since written over two dozen novels and five collections of short stories and poetry. His work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Nebula, Hugo, John W. Campbell Memorial Award, Locus Award, Rhysling Award, World Fantasy Award, and the James Tiptree, Jr. Award. His notable titles include "Camouflage," "The Accidental Time Machine," and "Marsbound," as well as the "Forever War" series and the "Attar the Merman" series, which he published under the pen name Robert Graham.

In addition to his original works, Haldeman has also contributed to the Star Trek universe, writing for the "Star Trek Adventures" series.
