John A. Connell

John A. Connell is an American author, best known for his historical mystery novels and the Mason Collins series. Connell was born in Atlanta, where he studied Anthropology and received his BA. He has had a variety of jobs throughout his life, including working as a motion picture camera operator, jazz pianist, stock boy in a bra factory, machinist, newspaper rack repairman, and printing-press operator. Connell now spends his time between the U.S. and France.

Connell gained prominence in the literary world with the publication of his debut novel, Ruins of War, and further established his success with the sequel, Spoils of Victory. His writing is highly regarded, with his series receiving nominations for the Barry Award and Best E-book 2022 by ITW. The Mason Collins series has also received endorsements from notable authors such as Lee Child and Steve Berry.

Connell's love for storytelling led him to pursue a career in writing, despite having no connections or knowledge of the film industry. He began working as a motion picture camera operator in Los Angeles, where he worked on films such as Jurassic Park and Thelma and Louise, and TV shows including NYPD Blue and The Practice. Connell is a member of the International Thriller Writers, Mystery Writers of America, and International Association of Crime Writers.
