His science fiction and fantasy novels have been captivating readers for over fifteen years, with over a million copies sold worldwide and translations in multiple languages.
DeChancie's first novel, Starrigger, was published in 1984 by Berkley/Ace. This marked the beginning of his groundbreaking Skyway Trilogy, which includes Red Limit Freeway (1985) and Paradox Alley (1987). The trilogy has gained a cult following and is often compared to the works of revered authors like Heinlein, Asimov, and Clarke. The series takes readers on an exhilarating and mind-bending journey through the universe.
In addition to the Skyway Trilogy, DeChancie has penned a popular humorous fantasy series, starting with Castle Perilous. This series became a bestseller for Berkley/Ace. Another notable work is MagicNet, which Booklist described as "a welcome sigh of comic relief...shamelessly droll, literate, and thoroughly entertaining. Magicnet is the fantasy genre's whimsical answer to Neuromancer." DeChancie has also ventured into the horror genre and has published short fiction in various magazines and anthologies.
Living in Los Angeles, DeChancie continues to write novels, articles, short stories, and screenplays. His latest book, a short story collection titled THE LITTLE GRAY BOOK OF ALIEN STORIES, was published by Borderlands Press.
