John E. Siers

John E. Siers is a science fiction author best known for his "Lunar Free State" series, which began with his debut novel, "The Moon and Beyond," published in 2012. His second novel, "Someday the Stars," earned the 2014 Darrell Award for Best SF Novel by a Midsouth Author. To date, he has published eight novels in the series, with a ninth in progress, exploring themes of space exploration and human ambition. His works have been translated into German and adapted into audiobooks, broadening their reach to international audiences.

A U.S. Air Force veteran and retired software developer, Siers draws inspiration from the Apollo 11 moon landing, an event that shaped his passion for science fiction. His writing reflects the optimism of early space exploration, blending hard science with imaginative storytelling. Beyond his original series, he has contributed to collaborative universes, including two novels—"The Ferryman" and "The Dragons of Styx"—in William Alan Webb's "Hit World" series, as well as short stories in the "Last Brigade" anthologies.
