John Flanagan is an accomplished Australian author, best known for his popular Ranger's Apprentice series. Before finding success as an author, Flanagan worked in advertising and created the TV series Hey Dad!. He turned to writing fiction to encourage his son to read, uncovering a hidden talent that would lead to a successful career.
Flanagan grew up in Sydney, Australia, with a dream of becoming a writer. His journey took a turn when he wrote a critical poem about a senior executive at his workplace. To his surprise, a company director agreed with his perspective and offered to train him in copywriting. For the next twenty years, Flanagan honed his writing skills in advertising, eventually collaborating with a friend to develop the TV sitcom Hey Dad!.
Flanagan's true passion, however, lay in storytelling. Inspired by his son's reading preferences, he began writing the Ranger's Apprentice series. The series, filled with adventure and richly developed worlds, quickly gained popularity among children, solidifying Flanagan's reputation as a successful author. He continues to reside in Sydney with his wife, and they share four grandsons together. Flanagan remains dedicated to his writing, still working on the Ranger's Apprentice series for his many devoted readers.
