John Green is a highly acclaimed American author, known for his young adult novels. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, but his family moved to Orlando, Florida when he was just three weeks old. Green's original plan for his life was to become an Episcopalian minister, but he eventually found his calling in writing. He attended Indian Springs Boarding School near Birmingham and graduated from Kenyon College in 2002 with a double major in English and Religious studies.
Green's first novel, Looking for Alaska, won the 2006 Michael L. Printz Award presented by the American Library Association. His second novel, An Abundance of Katherines, was a 2007 Michael L. Printz Award Honor Book and a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. His subsequent novels, Paper Towns, Will Grayson, Will Grayson (co-authored with David Levithan), and The Fault in Our Stars, have all been bestsellers and met with critical acclaim. The Fault in Our Stars, in particular, was a massive success and topped the New York Times Children's Paperback Bestseller list for several weeks. Green's books have been optioned for film by major Hollywood studios, with the exception of Will Grayson Will Grayson.
In addition to his work as an author, Green is also a popular YouTuber and co-host of the Vlogbrothers channel with his brother, Hank. They gained popularity with their internet blog, "Brotherhood 2.0," where they discussed their lives, books, and current events every day for a year. They continue to keep a video blog, now called "The Vlog Brothers," which can be found on the Nerdfighters website. Green is also the co-creator of the online educational series CrashCourse, which covers a wide range of subjects from literature to science. He has been recognized for his contributions to literature and education, including being selected by TIME magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World. Green currently lives in Indianapolis, Indiana with his family.
