John J. Gobbell

John J. Gobbell is an American author, best known for his Todd Ingram series of books. He was born in San Diego on August 28, 1937, and served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant and destroyer weapons officer. His ship saw duty in the South China Sea, which granted him membership in the exclusive Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club.

After his military service, Gobbell pursued a career in executive recruiting. He worked with KPMG Peat Marwick as a consultant for three years and then spent ten years as a Vice President at Boyden Associates, Inc., a large New York City-based international executive recruiting firm. He later founded THE GOBBELL COMPANY in Newport Beach, California, where he worked on a retained basis with corporate clients to find senior executives. During this time, he became fascinated with advanced technology, weapon systems, and the executives who build them. This fascination has no doubt influenced his writing, particularly in the Todd Ingram series.

In addition to his professional career, Gobbell is an avid sailor and has participated in Southern California yacht racing regattas. In his younger days, he skippered in the Long Beach Yacht Club's Congressional Cup, one of the most prestigious match-racing regattas featuring skippers from around the world.

Gobbell is currently married to his wife Janine, who is also a USC graduate. They reside in Orange County, California. He has written six novels involving U.S. Navy action, with the Todd Ingram series being his most well-known work. "A Code For Tomorrow" is the second of four stand-alone novels in the series, and he is currently at work on his seventh novel.
