John Jantunen is a Canadian author, best known for his thrilling novels that include "No Quarter," "A Desolate Splendor," and "Savage Gerry." Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Jantunen has lived and worked in various regions across Canada before settling in Guelph, Ontario with his wife and children.
Jantunen's writing career took off with the publication of his third novel, "No Quarter," in 2018. However, he had already been writing for years, having self-published his debut novel, "Fallingoverstandingstill," in 2013. He then moved to ECW, a traditional publisher, where he published "Cipher" and "A Desolate Splendor" in 2014 and 2016, respectively. "Cipher" was particularly successful, making the shortlist for the Kobo Emerging Writer Prize.
Jantunen's experiences traveling across Canada have greatly influenced his writing, providing him with a wide range of perspectives and stories to draw from. He has written numerous short stories, over a dozen screenplays, and five novels, including "Savage Gerry" and "No Quarter," which is the first book in the "Tildon Chronicles" series. Additionally, one of his short stories was featured in the collection of short fiction "Fractured: Tales From the Canadian Post-Apocalypse."
Jantunen believes that authors need to have a deep and wide reading habit and a good memory to fully engage with the world and their audience. This philosophy has no doubt contributed to his success as a writer, as he continues to produce captivating and thought-provoking works of fiction.
