John Levitt

John Smith is an author known for his urban fantasy and mystery novels, particularly the "Dog Days" series, which includes "Dog Days," "New Tricks," and "Unleashed." His latest installment, "Play Dead," concludes the series for the time being. Smith also penned "Dogged by Death," a mystery set in a ski lodge, showcasing his versatility across genres. His earlier works, such as the police thriller inspired by his law enforcement background, laid the foundation for his writing career.

Before becoming an author, Smith led a varied life, from his roots in New York City to his time as a hippie dropout in San Francisco. His seven-year stint with the Salt Lake City Police Department provided rich material for his early novels. Smith's writing often blends gritty realism with supernatural elements, influenced by his eclectic experiences. He currently divides his time between Alta, Utah, and San Francisco, where he plays guitar in his band, The Procrastinistas.

In addition to his urban fantasy works, Smith has two reissued mysteries, "Ten of Swords" and "Carnivores," available through Crossroad Press. His storytelling frequently features canine characters, a nod to his personal connection with dogs. When not writing or performing music, Smith enjoys the mountain lifestyle in Alta, drawing inspiration from his surroundings for his novels.
