John Neufeld

John Neufeld is an accomplished author known for his contributions to both young adult and adult fiction. His breakout novel, "Edgar Allan," initially intended as a short book for readers of all ages, became a celebrated children's work upon its publication in 1968. This success was followed by "Lisa, Bright and Dark," which was named one of The New York Times Best Books of the Year and adapted into a Hallmark Hall of Fame television special. Several of his other works have also been recognized by institutions such as the New York Public Library and YASLA for their excellence in young adult literature.

Born in Chicago and educated at Phillips Exeter Academy and Yale University, Neufeld began his career in publishing before dedicating himself fully to writing. His novels often explore emotional and psychologically complex themes, drawing inspiration from everyday life, media, and personal interactions. In addition to his literary work, Neufeld has served as a teacher and NPR commentator. He continues to reside in Connecticut, where he remains active in writing and education.
