John Stanley

John Stanley is a prolific author and entertainment journalist best known for his long-running tenure as a writer for the "San Francisco Chronicle" and as the host of the cult classic television series "Creature Features." His career spans over three decades, during which he interviewed numerous iconic figures in film, television, and literature, including Ray Bradbury, Vincent Price, and William Shatner. Stanley has authored 18 books, including the celebrated "Creature Features Movie Guide" series, which saw six editions between 1981 and 2000. His memoir, "I Was a TV Horror Host," offers an insider’s look at his experiences in the world of genre entertainment.

Stanley’s writing often explores the intersection of Hollywood history and pop culture, with works like "The Gang That Shot Up Hollywood" delving into the lives of legendary actors such as Clint Eastwood and Barbara Stanwyck. His fiction includes the Avon paperback hit "World War III" (also published as "Napalm Sunday") and the noir-inspired novel "Bogart '48," which was reissued with additional photographs.
