Jon Berkeley is an Irish author and illustrator, best known for his children's novels and his humor-infused, vivid storytelling. Berkeley was born in Dublin and attended the National College of Art and Design, where his passion for art was solidified. He has since traveled extensively, working as a freelance illustrator in cities such as London, Sydney, and Hong Kong before settling in Barcelona. His illustrations have been featured in numerous publications, including Time, The Washington Post, and The Economist.
Berkeley's love for art is only surpassed by his passion for writing. After a successful 25-year career as an illustrator, he turned his attention to writing children's books. His works often feature young protagonists and are infused with elements of humor, mystery, and adventure. The Palace of Laughter, the first book in The Wednesday Tales series, introduces readers to Miles Wednesday, a homeless young boy who embarks on an adventure to find his family, accompanied by a talking tiger and an angel named Little. The second book in the series, The Tiger's Egg, follows Miles and Little as they travel with the Bolsillo Brothers Circus, searching for Miles's father and the mysterious tiger's egg.
In addition to his work as an author and illustrator, Berkeley is also a dedicated family man. He currently resides in Spain with his wife and their five children, five cats, and a small colony of stick insects. Despite his busy schedule, Berkeley continues to create captivating stories and illustrations that delight young readers and adults alike.
