Jon Steele is a renowned young adult fantasy fiction author from the United States, best known for his acclaimed “Angelus Trilogy”. Born in the American Northwest in 1950 and raised in Great Falls Montana, Steele led an eclectic early life, working a variety of legal and illegal jobs across the country before eventually settling in London with Independent Television News (ITN).
As a cameraman, Steele quickly gained recognition for his exceptional work in dangerous environments, earning a reputation as one of the world's top cameramen in the field. In 2002, he published his autobiography, 'War Junkie', which has since become a cult classic of war reportage. In the midst of the Iraq War, Steele made the decision to put down his camera and leave the industry, seeking solace in the quiet, reflective life of a writer. He spent a year in the south of France, living without television, radio, or newspapers, and dedicating his time to writing and exploring the countryside.
Steele's writing career took a dramatic turn in 2007 when he returned to Iraq, this time alone and without the support of any news organization. He spent three months living with an American combat unit, documenting their lives and experiences for the award-winning documentary, 'The Baker Boys: Inside The Surge'. Today, Steele resides in Switzerland with his Jordanian-born wife and the two stray cats they adopted in Amman. His experiences and adventures have no doubt provided a wealth of inspiration for his writing, making him a truly unique and captivating voice in the world of young adult fantasy fiction.
