Joseph Finder is a successful American author, well-known for his thriller novels that cover a variety of topics including mystery, suspense, and espionage. Born in Chicago, Finder spent much of his childhood traveling the world due to his family's work, living in places such as Afghanistan and the Philippines. This early exposure to different cultures and languages had a significant impact on Finder's life, sparking his interest in the Soviet Union, the KGB, and Russian history. He pursued this interest through his studies, attending Yale University and later completing a master's degree at Harvard University.
After completing his education, Finder went on to become a professor at Harvard and later achieved his goal of joining the Central Intelligence Agency. However, Finder eventually left the CIA to pursue a career in writing, a decision that has proven to be successful. He has written fifteen novels, many of which have become New York Times bestsellers and have been translated into 35 languages. Two of his novels, "High Crimes" and "Paranoia," have been adapted into films starring notable actors such as Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, Harrison Ford, Liam Hemsworth, and Gary Oldman.
Finder's work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Strand Critics award, the Barry Award, and the International Thriller Writers’ Thriller Award for best novel. His first novel, "The Moscow Club," was named by Publishers Weekly as one of the 10 best spy novels of all time. Finder currently lives in Boston, Massachusetts with his wife, where he continues to write and root for the Red Sox. He is also an active member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Association of Former Intelligence Officers.
