Joseph Fink is a renowned author, known for creating the popular live show and podcast, Welcome to Night Vale, which he co-wrote with Jeffrey Cranor. Fink, who hails from California, currently resides in New York with his wife. His career in writing began when he started a small book publishing company called Commonplace Books in his twenties, where he published his own short works in two collections. Fink used to edit his short works without the knowledge of his boss and would lay them out at his office.
Fink's collaboration with Cranor began when Cranor approached him to write a play about time travel. This led to the creation of a play that they performed in the East Village in August 2011. Fink's success in writing did not stop there, as he and Cranor went on to co-write more plays together. Their collaboration resulted in the creation of the Welcome to Night Vale podcast. In addition to his work on Welcome to Night Vale, Fink has also authored the New York Times bestselling novels Welcome to Night Vale, It Devours!, and The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives in Your Home, all of which were written with Cranor. He has also written the children's novel, The Halloween Moon, and a memoir with his wife, Meg Bashwiner, titled The First Ten Years. The couple currently resides in the Hudson River Valley.
