Josh Weil

Josh Weil is an accomplished American author, well-known for his works of fiction and literature novels. He was born in the suburbs of Virginia, a place that would later serve as the backdrop for the novellas in his debut novel, The New Valley. When working on his next book, Weil can typically be found in a cabin in southwest Virginia.

Weil became a published author in 2009 with the release of his debut novella collection, The New Valley: Novellas. His writing has continued to receive critical acclaim, and in 2014, he published his first novel, The Great Glass Sea, which went on to win several awards and prizes. These include Library of Virginia’s Literary Award and the Dayton Literary Peace Prize. The New Valley also received recognition, earning Weil the New Writers Award, the Kaufman Prize, and the 5 Under 35 Award.

In addition to his work as an author, Weil has also contributed non-fiction pieces to various publications such as The New York Times, The Sun, Oxford American, and Poets & Writers. He has received fellowships from the Fulbright Foundation, the MacDowell Colony, and the Bread Loaf and Sewanee Writers’ Conferences. Weil has also held various teaching positions, including the Tickner Writer-in-Residence at Gilman School, the Distinguished Visiting Writer at Bowling Green State University, and the Grisham Writer-in-Residence at the University of Mississippi. He is currently working on a collection of stories in Northern California’s Sierra Nevada, where he now resides with his family.
