Judith Kerr

Judith Kerr is a highly respected British author, best known for her work in children's literature. She was born on June 14, 1923, in Berlin, Germany, to a distinguished author and drama critic. Due to her father's outspoken criticism of the Nazi regime, the family was forced to flee Germany in 1933, seeking refuge in the United Kingdom. This experience would later become the subject of her acclaimed novel for middle-grade readers, "When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit."

Before settling in England, Judith Kerr and her family had to pass through Switzerland and France. During this time, she attended more than ten schools, which exposed her to various cultures and perspectives at a young age. In 1936, her family became British citizens, and Kerr has since resided in the United Kingdom.

In addition to her autobiographical work, Kerr is also celebrated for her picture books, such as "The Mog series" and "The Tiger Who Came to Tea."
