Judith McNaught is a highly acclaimed American author, best known for her historical and contemporary romance novels. She has sold more than 40 million copies of her books worldwide, which have been translated into over 30 foreign languages and sold in over 80 countries. McNaught was born in San Luis Obispo, California, and attended Northwestern University, where she majored in Business.
Before becoming a novelist, McNaught had a diverse career background. She worked as an assistant director, for a major trucking company, as president of an employment agency, president of an executive search firm, and was the first female executive producer for a CBS radio station. McNaught started her writing career by penning Regency romances, but later transitioned to contemporary romance when she found it difficult to break through in a saturated market.
McNaught is particularly known for her Westmoreland Saga series, which has captivated readers with its unique blend of history and romance. She is also credited with inventing the modern Regency Historical sub-genre of romance. McNaught was married to a dentist from St. Louis and has two children, a son named Clayton and a daughter named Whitney.
