Julia Brannan has always had a deep love for reading, turning to books as an escape from a difficult adolescence. After completing her university education with a degree in English Language and Literature, she spent her twenties trying to conform to societal expectations, even working for the Civil Service for six years. However, she eventually decided to abandon her attempts to conform and instead resolved to live her life on her own terms.
Throughout her life, Brannan has held a variety of jobs, including telesales, Post Office clerk, primary school teacher, and painter and gilder. In her spare time, she continues to be an avid reader and enjoys staying fit, exploring the beautiful countryside, and traveling the world. She has lived in various places, including the Brecon Beacons in Wales and, most recently, rural Aberdeenshire in Scotland, where she currently resides in a log cabin.
In 2014, Brannan decided to shift from being a consumer of books to a creator of them, inspired by her passion for history and literature. She combined these interests to write the Jacobite Chronicles, and has since expanded her writing to include side stories of minor characters and a new series, The Road to Rebellion. While historical fiction remains her first love, she has also ventured into contemporary fiction. Brannan now writes full-time, with the exception of a small amount of editing work, and is grateful for the positive reception her books have received. In 2019, she moved to rural Scotland with her cat, Constantine, and is enjoying living in her favorite country.
