Julie James is a New York Times bestselling author, known for her romantic novels and the FBI/US Attorney series. She is an American author, screenwriter, and former lawyer who graduated from the University of Illinois and studied law. After working for the United States Court of Appeal in Jacksonville, Florida, James practiced law with one of the largest law firms in the United States for several years.
Later, after being approached by Hollywood producers, James decided to leave the practice of law to pursue writing screenplays. Although some of her scripts were optioned, none were ever produced. However, this did not deter James from continuing to write. She began to focus her writing talents on romance novels, a genre she always loved to read. Her first book, Something About You, was published in 2009 and quickly became a hit.
Since then, James has published numerous novels, many of which have been translated into over twenty languages. Several of her books have been listed on the American Library Association's Reading List for Top Genre Novels, Booklist's Top 10 Romances of the Year, and have been featured as one of Cosmopolitan magazine's Red Hot Reads. Her ninth novel, THE THING ABOUT LOVE, is now available. James currently lives in Chicago with her husband and two children, where she is working on her next novel.
