Kaira Rouda is a highly acclaimed American author, best known for her work in the psychological suspense genre. She has written multiple award-winning and USA Today bestselling contemporary fiction novels, including "Best Day Ever," "All the Difference," and "The Favorite Daughter." Rouda was born to a stay-at-home mom and a marketing professor, which resulted in her family moving frequently during her childhood. She was born in Northwestern, Chicago, and spent her childhood in various college towns across the United States, including USC in Los Angeles, the University of Texas in Austin, Harvard in Boston, and Ohio State University in Columbus. Rouda obtained her MBA at the dinner table, though she attended Vanderbilt University and graduated with a degree in English literature.

After college, Rouda returned to Columbus and began working in advertising and writing copy for various industries, including carpet cleaning and press releases for dog ice cream. She also wrote for blogs, newspapers, and magazines.
