Kara Thomas

Kara Thomas is a highly regarded American author, known for her work in the young adult, mystery, thriller, contemporary, and fiction genres. She has written a number of standalone novels that have garnered critical acclaim and a loyal following. In addition to her work as an author, Thomas is also a successful television producer and writer.

Born as Kara Mustafa on March 21, 1990, Thomas grew up on Long Island, New York. She attended Stony Brook University, where she earned an English degree. It was during her final year of college that Thomas wrote her first novel under the pen name Kara Taylor. In 2013, she signed a blind script contract with Warner Brothers TV for a TV pilot, which is still in development. That same year, Thomas's dramedy series, The Revengers, was announced to be in production for CW, with Thomas serving as co-executive producer and writer.

In addition to the Prep School Confidential series, which she wrote as Kara Taylor, Thomas is also the author of several critically acclaimed novels, including The Darkest Corners, Little Monsters, and The Cheerleaders. All of these novels were published by Delacorte Press. Thomas is also an avid true crime enthusiast and can be found on social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram, where she interacts with her fans and shares her thoughts on all things true crime. She currently resides on Long Island with her husband and rescue cat, and writes full-time.
