Karah Sutton is a New Zealand/American author who was born and raised in Kentucky. She has a deep appreciation for literature, having worked as a bookseller at Joseph-Beth Booksellers. Sutton is also an avid bird watcher and has a keen interest in Baba Yaga, a famous witch in Slavic folklore.
Sutton's debut children's book, "A Wolf for a Spell," was published in 2021 and quickly gained critical acclaim. It was an American Booksellers Association Indies Introduce selection, a Junior Library Guild selection, a Bank Street College Best Children's Book of the Year, and a Goodreads Choice Award nominee for Best Children's & Middle Grade for 2021. The book was illustrated by Pauliina Hannuniemi and published by Knopf. "A Wolf for a Spell" was praised for its enchanting storytelling and was called "an absolute delight" by Booklist.
In addition to her work as an author, Sutton works in marketing for the video game industry and has had the pleasure of working with some of the world’s most respected and well-loved entertainment companies including Disney, Netflix, Fox, and DreamWorks. She is also the Chief Publishing Officer for New Zealand-based video game developer/publisher PikPok, whose games have been downloaded nearly half a billion times in more than 100 countries worldwide. Sutton's background in marketing and her experience in the video game industry have given her a unique perspective and a wealth of knowledge that she brings to her writing.
