Kat was born in the Central Valley of California and obtained her degree in Anthropology and History from the University of California in Santa Barbara. Before starting her writing career, she worked as a real estate broker. She now resides in Missoula, Montana, with her husband, a Western-writer and photographer. When they are not writing, they enjoy skiing and traveling, particularly to Europe. Kat has a love for all things old and enjoys visiting the places where her books are set. She often stays in out-of-the-way inns and historical houses to immerse herself in the bygone eras she writes about.
