Kate Jarvik Birch

Kate Jarvik Birch is a distinguished American author, particularly known for her young adult and children's books. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Birch had big dreams as a child, often imagining herself as a mermaid or unicorn. However, as she grew up, she found her true calling in writing, which she describes as a magical experience, much like her childhood dreams. Birch's love for writing started at a young age, and she wrote her first novel in the fourth grade, featuring a protagonist with similarities to herself.

Over the years, Birch's essays and short stories have been published in various literary journals and magazines, including the Indiana Review, Saint Ann's Review, Scissors and Spackle, and Isotope: A Journal of Literary Nature and Science Writing. In addition to her writing, Birch is also a visual artist and playwright. Her paintings have been featured in movies and TV shows like Glee and 21 Jump Street. Birch's first play, (a man enters), was produced in 2011 by the Salt Lake Acting Company. Despite her success in multiple fields, Birch remains humble and dedicated to her craft, living in Salt Lake City, Utah, with her husband and their three children.

Birch is also known for her Perfected series, which further solidifies her reputation as a talented author in the young adult fantasy genre. She continues to captivate audiences with her imaginative storytelling and creative flair, inspiring a new generation of writers and artists to pursue their dreams, no matter how big or small.
