Kate Messner

Kate Messner is a highly respected children's author, best known for her Ranger in Time series of books. Her writing is designed to inspire and encourage children to approach life with a general curiosity. Messner's books have been well-received and have made it to the New York Times Notable list, as well as being selected for the Junior Library Guild, IndieBound, and Bank Street College of Education Best Books.

Messner is not only an accomplished author but also a sought-after speaker. She has spoken at prestigious events such as Ted in 2012 and has given talks across America. Her novels are historical, mystery, and children's novels that have achieved both national and international recognition. Messner's award-winning books have been nominated and have gained critical acclaim on numerous occasions.

In addition to being a writer and speaker, Messner is a former middle school English teacher and a National Board Certified educator. She has a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School and spent seven years working as a television news producer and reporter in Syracuse, NY and Burlington, VT. Messner later went back to school to earn a master's degree in education for secondary-level English Language Arts and taught middle school language arts for fifteen years before leaving the classroom to write full time. Despite her busy writing schedule, Messner still spends much of her time in schools, working with kids as a visiting author. She currently lives on Lake Champlain with her family and is trying to summit all 46 Adirondack High Peaks in between book deadlines.
