Kate Thompson

Kate Thompson is a renowned author of fiction, who is also known for her work as an actress. She has published many romantic novels under her own name, as well as using the pen names Pixie Pirelli and Kate Beaufoy. Thompson was born in Belfast and went on to study English and French at Trinity College in Dublin.

Before becoming a successful author, Thompson spent many years working as an actress in theater and television. She is perhaps best known for her role in the Irish drama series Glenroe. In 1985, she married the actor Malcolm Douglas, and the couple has one daughter, Clara, who was born in 1987. Thompson's acting career continued to flourish, and in 1989, she won the Best Actress Award in the Dublin Theatre Festival.

Thompson's first novel, "It Means Mischief," was published in 1999 and quickly became a bestseller. Her subsequent work has also been well-received, with "The Blue Hour" being shortlisted for the Parker Romantic Novel of the Year. Thompson has also experimented with alternative publishing methods, releasing "Love Lies Bleeding" in a unique format. The first 25 chapters of the novel were made available for free via email, while the final part of the book, "The Clandestine Chapters," could be purchased as a bound edition printed on handmade paper.
