Katherine Cowley is a mystery author and writing teacher. She has a particular interest in Jane Austen and the Regency era, which is reflected in her writing. Cowley's debut novel, "The Secret Life of Miss Mary Bennet," is a Regency mystery that was inspired by Austen's work and has been nominated for the Mary Higgins Clark Award.
Cowley's fascination with Jane Austen began when she read "Pride and Prejudice" at the age of ten. This early exposure to Austen's writing sparked a lifelong obsession with the author and her work. In addition to "The Secret Life of Miss Mary Bennet," Cowley has written two other novels in the Mary Bennet spy series: "The True Confessions of a London Spy" and "The Lady's Guide to Death and Deception."
In addition to her work as a novelist, Cowley is also a dedicated writing teacher. She has taught writing classes at Western Michigan University and has a blog called "Jane Austen Writing Lessons," which was selected as one of the 100 Best Websites for Writers in 2021 by The Write Life. Cowley is also active on social media, with a presence on Twitter and Facebook. She currently lives in Kalamazoo, Michigan with her husband and three daughters.
