Katie Fforde

Katie Fforde is a well-known author of romance novels, born as Catherine Rose Gordon-Cumming in England, UK, on September 27, 1952. She is the daughter of Shirley Barbara Laub and Michael Willoughby Gordon-Cumming, and her grandfather was Sir William Gordon-Cumming. Fforde has a sister, Jane Gordon-Cumming, who is also a writer. She married Desmond Fforde, who is a cousin to author Jasper Fforde. Katie Fforde has three children named Guy, Francis, and Briony, and she didn't start writing until after the birth of her third child. Before becoming a writer, she worked as a cleaning lady and in a health food cafe.

Fforde's romance novels have been published since 1995, and they are set in modern-day England. She is the founder of the "Katie Fforde Bursary" for writers who have yet to secure a publishing contract. Katie Fforde was elected the twenty-fifth Chairman (2009-2011) of the Romantic Novelists' Association.
