Katie Gee Salisbury

Katie Gee Salisbury is an American author best known for her biography "Not Your China Doll," which chronicles the life of Anna May Wong, the first Asian American movie star. The book, published by Dutton in March 2024, represents the culmination of over a decade of research and writing. Salisbury's work has appeared in prominent publications such as The New York Times, Vanity Fair, The Ringer, and the Asian American Writers' Workshop.

Salisbury's writing often explores themes of identity, representation, and cultural history. Her TED Talk, "As American as Chop Suey," further reflects her engagement with Asian American narratives. A fifth-generation Chinese American originally from Southern California, she now resides in New York City. In 2021, she was recognized as a finalist for the Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship.
