Kellye Garrett

Kellye Garrett is an accomplished American author, best known for her suspense mysteries. She first made her mark in the literary world with the publication of her debut novel, 'Hollywood Homicide,' in 2017. The novel quickly gained critical acclaim, earning starred reviews from Library Journal and Publishers Weekly, as well as nominations for several awards. In 2018, Garrett won the Best Debut Mystery at the Lefty Awards and was nominated for a Barry and Agatha Award in the same year.

Before becoming an author, Garrett spent several years working as a television writer, most notably on the popular show Cold Case. Although many people were surprised to learn that she was one of the writers of the CBS drama, Garrett embraces her past and often refers to herself as a "recovering TV writer turned author." Prior to her career in television, Garrett worked as an editor at a magazine and later earned an MFA in screenwriting from the USC Film School.

In addition to her writing endeavors, Garrett is also an active member of the writing community. She currently serves as the Publicity Liaison for the Sisters in Crime Board of Directors. Despite her busy schedule, Garrett continues to write and publish compelling suspense novels that keep readers on the edge of their seats. Her latest book, 'Like A Sister,' tells the story of a black woman in New York City looking into the mysterious overdose of her estranged reality star sister. The novel has received widespread acclaim, including being featured on the TODAY show, and being selected as a Book of the Month April 2022 selection, and the Oxygen channel’s July Book Club pick. Garrett is also a co-founder of Crime Writers of Color, which received the 2023 Raven Award from MWA. She continues to write and publish novels from her home in New Jersey, commuting every day to Manhattan for work.
