Kevin G. Summers is a bestselling and award-winning author, known for his work in both original fiction and established universes. His novel "The Bleak December" was nominated for the Dragon Award in 2017, and his novel "Legendarium" has also received critical acclaim. Summers has also been commissioned to write several short stories in the "Star Trek" franchise, including "Isolation Ward 4," which was shortlisted for the Nebula Awards in 2002.
Summers grew up in a household in northern Virginia where the folk heroes were authors. From a young age, he was exposed to literature through his mother's master's studies at George Mason University, where he sat in on lectures by notable authors such as John Gardner and John Irving. This early exposure to literature sparked a lifelong love of reading for Summers, who fell in love with the works of authors such as Stephen King, Kurt Vonnegut, JRR Tolkien, John Steinbeck, and Thornton Wilder. In his free time, Summers could often be found watching "Star Trek" or playing "Dungeons & Dragons."
Despite the success Summers has found in his writing career, he has also faced challenges and setbacks. In the past, he self-published several novels through Amazon KDP, but his account was terminated after he was accused of having multiple accounts, an accusation he denies. The termination of his account was particularly difficult for Summers, as it represented a 20-year investment in his writing career and he was not given the opportunity to appeal or speak with a human representative. The experience left Summers feeling depressed and he turned to drinking, ultimately leading to a tragic end.
